Friendly Reminder – Athletics Chain of Command

If you have a student participating in athletics, please remember to follow our established chain of command when questions or concerns arise.

Whenever possible, students should first communicate directly with their coach before parent involvement. We want to encourage our student-athletes to advocate for themselves, communicate respectfully, and work through concerns with their coaches.

Athletics Chain of Command

Assistant Coach
Head Coach
Athletic Director
Principal
Superintendent
Parents and students are asked to follow this process and allow concerns to be addressed at the appropriate level before moving to the next step.

Thank you for helping us support positive communication between our student-athletes, coaches, families, and school!

Introducing Our Gopher Traits!

Our School Leadership Team has been working together to identify the character traits that represent who we want to be at Grenora Public School. These Gopher Traits are for everyone, students and staff, and will help guide how we learn, work, lead, and treat one another each day.

G – Grit: We persevere when things get difficult.
O – Ownership: We take responsibility for our choices and learning.
P – Positivity: We encourage others and contribute to a positive school culture.
H – Honesty: We demonstrate integrity and do the right thing.
E – Effort: We give our best effort and strive to grow.
R – Respect: We treat ourselves, others, and our school with respect.

Throughout the year, we will intentionally recognize and celebrate students and staff who demonstrate these traits in our classrooms, hallways, activities, and community.

Being a Gopher is more than a mascot, it represents how we show up for one another every day.

Dear Grenora Public School Families,

As we continue into September, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of our students and our school. We are off to a great start, and there are many exciting things happening at Grenora Public School!

🏈🏐🏃 Fall Activities Are Underway!

Football, volleyball, and cross country are all underway! We are proud of the hard work our students are putting into their activities. Please continue to encourage our students to demonstrate good sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and respect, both on and off the field.

Being part of a team is about more than winning. It is about learning to work together, supporting others, handling challenges, and representing our school with pride.

💛 Respect & Responsibility

We are continuing to emphasize the importance of being respectful and responsible students. We ask that families reinforce these expectations at home as well.

Students should:

Treat classmates, teachers, coaches, and other adults with respect.

Make good choices, even when no one is watching.

Take responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes.

Listen, participate, and give their best effort.

Be kind and supportive of others.

Follow classroom and school expectations.

🎓 School Matters: Give It Your Best!

We want our students to understand that school is important. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new, build relationships, develop good habits, and prepare for the future.

Encourage your child to:

Come to school ready to learn.

Try their best, even when something is difficult.

Ask for help when they need it.

Complete their work and take pride in what they accomplish.

Persevere when they experience challenges.

Understand that effort and attitude make a difference.

🕐 Being on Time Matters

Please remind your students about the importance of being on time to school and to every class. Arriving on time allows students to be ready when instruction begins and helps them avoid missing important learning.

Being on time is also an important life skill. Developing the habit of being punctual now will benefit students throughout high school, college, careers, and adulthood.

🏫 Take Pride in Our School

One of our goals this year is to build an even stronger sense of Gopher pride throughout our school and community.

We want our students to take pride in who they are, how they act, and the school they represent. Taking pride in our school means treating our building, classrooms, equipment, and school grounds with care.

Please remind students to:

Keep our school and grounds clean.

Put garbage where it belongs.

Take care of school property and equipment.

Use playgrounds, athletic areas, and other school grounds appropriately.

Follow expectations for where students are allowed to be.

Respect landscaping, buildings, fences, and other school property.

Leave areas better than they found them.

Our school belongs to all of us, and we all have a role in taking care of it. When students take pride in their surroundings, it shows that they care about themselves, their school, and their community.

🤝 We Are Partners in Your Child's Success

Thank you for partnering with us to help our students grow academically, socially, and personally. The expectations we set together at home and at school help our students become respectful, responsible, hardworking young people who are prepared for their future.

Let's continue to work together to make Grenora Public School a place where students learn, grow, belong, and take pride in being a Gopher!

Dig Deeper. Reach Higher.

With appreciation,
April Madsen
